  2. events. The men's javelin is about 260cm 
  3. (8½ft) long, weighing 800g (28oz), the 
  4. women's 230cm (7½ft) long,weighing 600g 
  5. (21oz). It is thrown from a scratch line at 
  6. the end of a run-up.
